Nothing less than elegant. Ever since Resorts International opened its doors in 1978, Capriccio has consistently served fine Italian fare in a fabulous old-world setting. According to Merrill Kelem, one of Frank Sinatra’s local security consultants, Old Blue Eyes always enjoyed dining at Capriccio when he was performing at Resorts in Atlantic City. Whether for himself or entertaining guests like Sophia Loren, Sammy Davis, and George Burns, Sinatra chose Capriccio for his intimate dinners. What was his favorite meal that is still on the menu? Veal Milanese, thinly sliced.
Although it has been over four decades since Sinatra graced the restaurant with his presence, Capriccio continues to hold titles like “best in elegant dining” in Atlantic City. Capriccio has been named the Best Casino Restaurant by USA Today in 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022. The restaurant prides itself on top-of-the-line excellence, but you do not have to be a celebrity to partake.
Ambiance
It is not a coincidence that Capriccio and Resorts exude charm and elegance. Residing on the second level of the Haddon Hall, old-time Atlantic City, and her rich history add to the ambiance. As soon as you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with an opulent, grandiose, and classic look. The room, surrounded by towering marble pillars and soft color palette walls, makes for a memorable place to dine. Whether a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary, Capriccio sparkles – and not just from the grand crystal chandeliers that adorn the ceilings. In addition, all servers are formally dressed adding that extra touch of class to your dining experience as you overlook the beach and world-famous boardwalk.
On the Menu
At Capriccio, every dish is prepared to order with passion and tradition in satin white tablecloth elegance. For years, signature dishes like Seafood Zuppetta and Veal Romero have graced the menu. The veal dish, named after Capriccio’s famous Maitre’d, Jorge Romero, stands out with a mix of broccoli rabe, crab meat, and garlic, and served over linguine. The Seafood Zuppetta, linguini topped with lobster, scallops, shrimp, and crabmeat simmered in olive oil, red onion, capers, and garlic, continues to please Capriccio patrons for years.
Whether beef, veal, or chicken, Capriccio offers your choice as to how your dish will be prepared: Parmigiana, Francese, Picatta, Marsala, Milanese, or Saltimbocca.
Sunday Dinner
Traditionally, Sundays call for a big and home-style Italian meal. Capriccio honors that tradition each week with its Sunday Dinner options. The fixed-price menu offers your choice of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert. For example, start your meal with Artichoke Oreganata - roasted baby artichokes, toasted breadcrumbs, lemon zest, and parmesan. For an entrée, the Gravy - Spaghetti marinara, accompanied by Italian sausage and meatballs – is a traditional signature dish. For dessert, a trio of cream-filled Profiteroles works perfectly to please your sweet tooth.
Happy Hour Fare
On Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, Cielo Wine Bar at Capriccio offers a smaller menu for Happy Hour from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Enjoy a glass of wine or an Italian Espresso Martini while sampling small plate options.
